Elephant Migration between Minneriya, Kaudulla, and Hurulu Eco Park
Minneriya National Park is part of a migration circuit involving Kaudulla National Park and Hurulu Eco Park. These parks are famed for hosting large elephant herds during specific months of the year. From July to September, large herds of elephants are often found in Minneriya due to the dry season and the reduced water levels at other locations. In October and November, these elephants typically migrate to Kaudulla National Park as the rains fill the lakes, then move to Hurulu Eco Park between December and January.
